Rohan Mehta

Founding Editor, Pulse AI

I'm Rohan, the editor and founder of Pulse AI. I started this publication because I read about artificial intelligence for two hours every morning across a dozen sources and I still felt under-informed. Pulse AI is the version of that morning routine I wish someone had handed me — a single, honest, well-organised read.

I've spent the last several years building software products and writing about how the day-to-day work of engineers and creators is changing because of AI. I pay for ChatGPT Plus, Claude Pro and Gemini Advanced. I've shipped production code with all three. My opinions on these tools come from using them, not from press releases.

On Pulse AI I do two things. First, I edit the news desk — every news summary on the site passes a human review before it goes live, and I make the call on what gets covered each day. Second, I write the Opinion column: first-person essays on how AI is reshaping work, products, families, money and culture, written from the perspective of someone who actually uses these tools rather than just covers them.

Where I write

All of my published writing currently lives on Pulse AI. You can read every essay I've published in the Opinion section. I also occasionally contribute deeper comparison reviews of AI tools — things like ChatGPT vs Claude vs Gemini, or comparisons of AI voice generators — when I've spent enough time with the products to have a useful opinion.

What I cover

Large language models and how to use them well. AI products for everyday work. The economic and labour-market consequences of generative AI, particularly in India and the wider Global South. Security and safety in a world where the same technology that helps you write a marketing email also helps someone else write phishing email at scale. Honest comparison reviews. The cultural weirdness of living with AI assistants.

My approach

I try to write the way I'd talk to a friend over coffee. Short paragraphs. Plain English. A real point of view, defended honestly. I'll tell you when I changed my mind. I'll tell you when a tool I previously praised has gone downhill, and when a tool I dismissed has gotten genuinely good. I won't pretend to be neutral on things I have strong views about, but I will always link to the original reporting so you can disagree with me from an informed position.

Disclosures

I am the sole owner and operator of Pulse AI. I do not currently hold equity in any AI company, lab or vendor I cover. I pay full retail price for the consumer AI subscriptions I review. If that ever changes — sponsorship, free access for review, equity — I will disclose it at the top of the relevant article. See the full editorial standards.
